Desert trip on a 3aj Tenere.
Hi guys, I hope you don't mind but I've copied my ride report from another forum I'm on and thought you'd be interested as I did the trip on my trusty 1988 Tenere. Last year I took my 750 Super Tenere to the top of Australia (Cape York) and it'd didn't quite go too well ...

You probably already know this but the oil tank drain can unscrew out about 60mm and then undo the drain bolt to drain the oil away from the oil tank to prevent spillage... :wave:

Does that make sense?

I've ordered a pair of rims with HD stainless spokes. Pretty expensive but do it right and do it once. :wave:

What rims did you order? Mfg & part #? Looking to do the same on the front. Thanks.

Sm Pro Platinum in 1.85 x 21 front and 3.5 x 17 rear. Don't know part numbers, sorry.

Hi Bernieboy, thanks for the reassurance on the crack. I will just keep an eye on it to see if it grows.

But seriously like Actionman (Dave) said, the inflated tire is most of the strength anyhow, the rim just keeps the tire in place, not forgetting centrifugal forces. :evil ...
