Wanted: Side panel (left side) for the 3AJ
Hello,
I'm searching for a left side panel for the 3AJ. Preferably in blue. Condition doesn't really matter aslong as it's still useable.
Cheers

Mysterious oil leak
Hi,
my 3AJ has been leaking sporadically for the last 2 weeks.
The oil droplets are coming from the bottom of the frame. See pic. It's marked in red.
I thought that the tube above the red square was coming form the engine breather but it's actually from the carburettor and absolutely dry so it's ...

Missing clutch adjustment mark
Hello,
it's me again!
I was about to reassamble my engine when I tried to realign/adjust my clutch.
Looks like I'm missing this alignment mark that is supposed to be on the black colored ring?
My bike is a 3AJ from the early 90s. Maybe it was handled differently?
What am I supposed to do?

Re: How does the kickstarter work?
Agh, I never heard that ratching sound when I actuated the lever without the clutch installed
Might have to remove the spark plug

Re: How does the kickstarter work?
If you type xt600 engine into youtube there are a few very good engine assemblies there
That's what I did, I also used a few diagrams to install the parts correctly.
It has a freewheeling assembly, as most bicycle rear hubs have.
Thats the ratcheting sound you hear when kicking over with ...

How does the kickstarter work?
Hello,
I made this thread earlier but deleted it since I figured out how the kick shaft turns over the crank.
But now I'm thinking what happens with the kick shaft if the engine us running? Wouldn't it spin along with the kickstart lever as the engine is running?

Re: The kick starter and the 3AJ clutch cover
Hey Andy,
thanks for the offer but I'm already in contact with motoritz regarding the cover.
Maybe he can even get me the kickstarter shim that's missing for me.
On horizons unlimited I read a post saying that it's just an aluminium plug covering the holes and that it can be forced out.

Re: The kick starter and the 3AJ clutch cover
Well one of the previous owners might have replaced the cover. Are they even interchangeable with those of other XTs?
Now that you mention it. My bike's fuel capacity is only 17 liters as opposed to the claimed 23. But that's a different topic, heh.
Anyway, the bike is definately a 3AJ.
Yeah I guess ...
