3rd gear

Hi all
I'm in the process of filing my engine from the motorcycle XT 600 in 1998. Seemed to me that I have all the parts needed for the type of Koyo Bearings, seals, etc. It turned out that the third gear wheel, gear has significant material losses. So it looks like:

The pinion is asking the manufacturer, but the price was prohibitive for me. On Polish forum on XT one guy said that the gearbox of my vintage were different shaft lengths and fifth gear. So far does not seek for a drug as long as I do not 100% sure what I look for it properly. Can you direct me in this issue? Thank you.

Hi Magic,
maybe I can help you.
I have a XT 600 (Type 3tb) gearbox which is for sale.
I will even part it out and sent you that paticular gear.
You have to find out if it is the same (my 3tb and your faulty gearbox).
The only problem is: on sunday I´m going on holliday for three weeks...

Looked through the catalog with parts from 2003 (since then have not changed engines - 1996-2003) and my damaged pinion has a number 1VJ-17 231-00. The same appears in the directory from before 1996, because I dare to say that they are identical.
The question is whether your part is undamaged and that you can sell it to me while on vacation.

I have to write a small correction. My colleague from the forum, but was right and I'm the idiot that did not just describe what I saw.

First, it was necessary to change the subject because that statement has not been damaged third gear, but unfortunately the fifth. Looking at the note sheet:

We can see that the drive axle sub-assy has 5 gears. I have not noticed Fifth. So this is how the parts are in the garage and I described everything in the house. So my gear is damaged code: 3YF-17251-01 and it is unavailable in earlier versions. Keep pictures:

Continuing to present the internal dimensions of this gear:

Summing sorry confusion and would like to ask if anyone has the gear to sell, please contact me.
Stanislav.

Hi Magic,
That's your 5th gear pair that's knackered, not the 3rd. I just had to change mine, it looked like this:

David Lambeth is the man to speak to about a replacement, PM me for a phone number if you can't find him. You will need a hydraulic press to get the 2nd gear off and on the input shaft.

All the best,

Dunc.

Thanks Dunc.
I forgot to write in the forum that the issue is out of date. In Poland, he was a man who had a fifth gear in my gearbox. It turned out that he has a 5th gear I needed. Unfortunately, not mentioned pinion cooperating with my broken. But I think, and that's fine and I'm happy. Thanks for your good intentions!
Stanislav.

Good stuff Stanislav, so long as your bike is back on the road.
