34L Side Stand Photo Please

Hi all....

I bought a 34L but it has no side stand. I've since bought a well used side stand off eBay. Matching it up to the bike, there's no way it looks like it would fit. I suspest the previous owner broke the original one off and tried to weld something in place - perhaps even trying to mate up a side stand from another bike.

Can someone please post a few photos of where the side stand bolts to the frame. Here's a few photos of what I have: pin sticking out looks like it shouldn't be there (I know I have to dig up the weeds....):

Its been repaired for sure, one of my 34L`s has had the same treatment, go though my 34L rebuild pics & you should be able to see what its like originally.

Yep, looks like I'm missing a big chunk where the side stand bolts onto.

So what do I do? Can you buy that bottom part or is it welded to the frame?

You have two choices,A) buy new frame.......
B) weld a plate to fill the missing chunk.
Ask Mezo to copy with paper the part and scan it.Then cut from plate(steel)and weld to complete.
Here a pic of that area without the leg.

Only two small problems, no scanner or electric to power it.

OK, this is my 34L frame mount, first pic as if you was looking direct at it, second pic is showing the angle of the dangle.

That tab tends to wear or bend outward causing the bike to lean over.

The next two pics are from another 34L frame of mine that has had the mod done to it & that's what you will need to do to yours.

Failing that, keep an eye out for an old fucked 43F frame & chop the bit off there, but it may be worn as well & will eventually wear out, your better making a stronger replacement & not an ugly job that this guy had done.

He`s not even chopped off the old one, just welded another plate on top of the original.
