I have seen this Hagon monoshock replacement on ebay from lots of people. It retails for around £290 - £300. Has anyone got any experience with it? Do you think it would be worth the money? Will it fix the shite rear suspension?

Or should I just accept the shite rebound as it is and get a local spring manufacturer to make me a new spring with 1/3 more 'spring-i-ness'?

The latter would be a lot cheaper option and if the piston on the shock is still good why not. Do you know what preformance you want from the shock like: off road loads and how much weight you are to carry. There might be lots of these to move around!

Have you looked at any other (Shocks) yet?

I saw a 3aj for sale last year with full olins set up and there was a claimed big improvement. But you pay and pay for that sort of set up.

Thats not a bad price for fleece bay, cheaper than from hagons!!!

I havent gone there yet but will need to sometime in the futre.

I think D lambeth has a selection of springs and shocks he might be worth an email or call.

Lots of the DR guys have replaced there rear shocks with Hagon`s for the same reason & ive never heard any complaints.

So yes its worth the money & they do work well.

I'll just dip me oar in here, my bike had a Hagon fitted when I bought it. The damping collapsed less than 3000km later, partially due to a fat bastard riding the bike with an unreasonable amount of luggage. The shock couldn't be rebuilt so I replaced it with a second hand WP which has been fine ever since.
I have no idea what the original shock is like but if you do replace it, get one that can be rebuilt.

I fitted a Hagon to my 3aj and it has done well over 50,000+ km, It could be hell of a lot more than that !!

It did 45,000km in one trip and I'm a fat bastard that had an unreasonable amount of luggage

I did contact Hagon direct and they made my shock to my spec at no extra charge

Here's a Hagon shock that came with a lot of 2kf parts I got a while ago will put it on my 2kf soon
hopefully it will work out ok they cost around £300 new, had a pair on my SR500 twinshock years ago
and thought they were crap, will see how this one works out.
