Wonder if some knowledgable soul might help.

As I bought my Tenere as a pile of bits I was assuming that everything was original, but I am quickly coming to the conclusion that it was a hotchpotch of other models.

I was getting stuck in to rebuilding the caliper today and bedded the new seals and new piston. When I got round to the pads, it became quite obvious that I had ordered the wrong ones - I assume the correct ones are meant to have a circular hole for the retaining rod to go through aren't they? Anyone know which ones these are for so I can resell them with the correct description?



Now, I have managed to locate two of the retaining clips and placed them in the right place (one at the pit of the caliper and the other on the sliding arm or mount). What role does the one on the mounting arm play by the way?




but from the look of things, this third one isn't for the 34L/55W caliper is it? If so, anyone know where it goes?



From looking at the pdf for the parts manual it looks like there is another clip that hooks over a pad - would that be right? Or do the pads just hold in place by that one central pin? I can't see enough detail from the parts list exploded diagram.

Can anyone point me in direction of the right part number or flog me a spare they don't need?

I just pulled my 34L caliper apart to have a lookey, that last clip is not needed you have the two clips in the right place.

The pads are defiantly wrong, your right it should have a hole for the pin to go through.

That third clip is for the later calipers,,, 55W onwards...

As are those pads...

By mounting arm I meant the hangar that bolts to the fork leg and allows the caliper to slide - as in the thrid pic. As to the role it plays, I was just wondering what it is there for (the clip that is)? Does it actually hold the pads tight? Act as a wear guage etc?

Thanks for explaining that one. Do the 55W calipers look the same externally as the 34L?

I think the clip on the arm is there as a hard sliding surface, so the pads don't dig into the ally mount.

Thanks for the answers. So it looks like I have a 34L caliper to go with 34L forks. Well, thats a bonus.

Andy, those pads look pretty much like the ones I have on my 3aj as does the spring that you are holding in your hand.
Your pads should have a place for the hanger pin to go through, infact the pads I used to get for my 55w had the face of the pads in two halfs (a kerf down from the hole that hangs the pads).
Whats the reference number on those pads you have there?
Behind most pads and I can see from the clymer manual here that your bike should have a pad shim to the rear of the brake pad piston side and one (1) spring as you have fitted already. Those springs are to hold the brake pad in place, so the pads you should have to have will fit (almost like clip in) into position in conjunction with those springs. The one behind the pad I believe is for heat dispersion and anti chatter.
I will attempt to attach a schematic of the clymer diagram. OR
PM you with said scematic if you wish.

I've got a Clymer manual, but it's for the 43F and the TT600 isn't it? Thats the diagram that made me think I should have a third spring in place. Does the 43F share the same caliper as the 34L or the 55W?
