I have an '85 Tenere 55w and the rear rim is heavily pitted in places - mainly where the spokes attach to the rim. Also, I get some brake pump through the pedal despite a rear brake overhaul (new linings) and thorough clean of the drum surface. Im guessing that the hub is ovalled. If the hub was good I'd consider rebuilding with a new rim. So I'm wondering which wheels would be compatible. I've seen quite a few that look in good nick on ebay France, Italy and Germany but am unsure whether all drum braked model wheels are compatible with the 55Ws. I presume 34L is but any advice would be much welcomed.

The wheels from a 43f will fit. But I "heard" that they are not as tough as the Tenereparts.
1VJ will fit also.

Yep the 1VJ wili be your best bet, you can always check the part numbers in the fiches (hot links) the 1VJ will probably be the easiest to find.
