Stator and cover problems!

I recently got a well used 1987 1VJ fresh back from Sandraiders.

At some point on the trip the owner must have had a pretty good drop - I've got most of it lined up, but the stator grommet was leaking, despite being COVERED in gasket maker/sealant.

I've managed to get the case open to take a look/replace, unfortunately the grommet I got doesn't fit for one but that's not the hardest thing to source (I'm going to replace the whole stator, seems the easy way unless anyone else has a better idea?).

The real problem is that in the drop it seems that the stator cover ALMOST got punched through, to the point there's actually a hairline crack on the inside. Now I'd like to just replace it with an OEM cover, but I'm struggling to find one, so I may have to get a MIG/TIG welder to fix it up. Given it's damaged I'm wary that doing that may just mean if (when) I drop it I'll just punch it through anyway, but at the moment that's my only option, the internet isn't providing much in the way of a spare.

Does anyone have any idea where I might be able to source one, or tips in general?

Probably be keeping an eye out at breakers, for any of the XT6 leccy start covers unfortunately, stator is easy, electrex. G45. About £100

That's great info, thanks! Do you know if the electrex comes with the grommet? It doesn't seem to be in any of their pictures online.

Honestly can’t remember, it was some years ago. But if you find someone pulling a motor apart, they’ll probably sell the case and stator together.
