I'm from Italy (living in Spain) and - after years of researching - I've recently bought a 1985 tenere 55w remotely (north of Italy) which should arrive middle of September.
So far I've only got a couple of videos and it looks/sounds a pretty decent unit.below some screenshots taken from the video.
According to the owner 5th gear it's ok and the engine has good compression.
Frame and engine have matching numbers.
While I own two XT 500 (plus other bikes) and have had various kick starter Yamahas, this is my real first XT 600 Z / Tenere (the most similar engine I've got was from a srx 600).
While waiting to get it and to do some proper riding/check, I've already noticed few aesthetical stuff to take care of: a dent in the tank and missing handguards.
While I'm planning to keep the tank as it is for now, I'd like to start looking for the handsguards and apparently it's quite difficult to get hold of them.
I've been checking various websites, forums etc including this one and I can't find useful infos on them (OEM reference etc)
So, on the one side I'd be grateful if you guys can share any reference on where to find them (also some good replica but OEM would be better), on the other it's impossible to find the specific parts list for the 55W.
I've found a couple of posts on this forum regarding it from many years ago but no real answer to that.
I've also wrote Yamaha Europe but they told me to contact some local dealer. I wrote to 5 of them but no luck.
Any chance you guys know where to find it?
