New pick up coil source 🤷‍♂️

Hi guys,
thank you for having me on your awesome forum, I hope you can help.
I have two XT 600’s from the 1980’s and both have the same issue, not starting by kick but will when towed but they run terrible, by process of elimination of all the usual suspects were ruled out but on inspection of the stator and pick up coil the wires are fried and brittle.
They literally crumbled when moved, apparently it’s when they’re run low on oil, they’re not being cooled sufficiently.
Anyway I’ve been hunting high and low trying to source one or two if possible, I’ve tried Yambits, classic bike parts Uk, wemoto and partzilla in the states who list them but are “out of stock”.
I can’t believe I bought a second bike for spares and it went down with the same issue 😩
Kind regards

Electrex world. They do loads of OE stuff. Mine now has the coil and the stator from here. It changed the bike instantly. I didn’t trust it last year for going more than a few miles. Stator in… bring on the world. It’s about £100 delivered. Make sure you have the right option. The description isn’t always full. Measure the internal hole, and number of cables. The coil was about £10-15 if I remember correctly.
They sell on eBay, or direct so check both for availability. I know it’s weird but the main site didn’t have stock of mine but I paid for it on eBay and it came through. 🤔👍
If it’s like the 1vj, it’s the G45.

https://www.electrexworld.co.uk/acatalo ... XT600.html for the stator.
They do pick ups with measurements if bike isn’t listed. Is it possible to get the wires refitted to the pick up you have or do you think the actual coil is shot too?

I appreciate your reply thank you, I have tried them but the Indian lady on the other end of the phone could barely speak English but I’ll try them again.
Thank you 🙏

No worries. Like I said, the stator and spark coils are really good. Just trying to match that pulse is the problem eh?
Keep us informed. I’ll keep a look out.

It’s away being tested atm, I imagine it’s just the wires as that was the case with the other one, this guy repaired it best he could but I don’t think it will last long.
Well at least having one made is an option.
Thanks again for your info 👍

They’re obviously shut for the weekend but I’ve looked on their website and nothing’s listed for an 80’s XT 600 😔

Try Rex’s speed shop in the UK. They remanufacture srx600 and xt500 yamaha stators so it’s possible they can do an xt600. If you’re really at a loss to find a replacement i may have a spare i can part with here in the states. Good luck!
