Was wondering if anyone could enlighten me on the serviceable length of the fork springs for my 34L/55W hybrid. Also, is there any difference internally between the forks for these two models. Externally both sets look identical, but internally one set has a metal tube spacer at the top of the tubes and the other has a second smaller spring instead.

Alos, checking part numbers, the bronze (excuse my ignorance if they aren't bronze) bushes appear to be no longer available (Part number 34L-23171-00). Does anyone know if there are any alternatives / pattern parts to replace these? I assume they are vital; parts and the bronze coating on mine have worn badly.

Get some progressiuve springs for them.Ebay has plenty.

34L bottles and 55W are diferent!
Don´t know internally(would say no) but the 55W bottles are longer.Also the break caliper is diferent.
55W bottle has two attachment points for disc cover. 34L has not.

The springs looks to be the same.I don´t have yet found a 55W specific spare parts catalog.
All springs that are offered on ebay(progressive) claim will fit both models.....so will be the same stock?

Thanks Karl. Well that clearly shows me I am in possession of 34L forks (or I suppose they could be 43F couldn't they?). Which is just as well as I have a 34L caliper and slider.

Was the 55W fork the same as the 1VJ (and other models)?

Yes
1Vj has same fork and spring as 55W.
Now 34L has diferent code for the spring.Obviously 34L starting code.But many parts are identical and fit other models.

Cisco correctly lists the correct spring free lengths.

On my Oct 30 post on the above link I listed my suggested Oil Weights and Air Pressures for various loads. Always open to other suggestions.
