Hi, has anyone imported an XT660Z to France? If so did you need to get a certificate of conformity and where did you get it? Yamaha UK want £75 to issue but have stopped issuing due to covid!
Did you have to change the headlight or are the lenses neutral? Mine is a 2009 (made in Italy).
TIA

Was your bike a grey import from Italy or an official UK bike? in the UK the beam throws left (to the kerb) and for France & Italy it throws to the right (again to the kerb) no such thing as neutral.
The speedo will need to read Kilometers (or both).
Mezo.

Thanks for answering, the bike is a UK model. Have ordered a new headlamp - ouch!!
The speedo is digital and I can switch to km - at least that doesn't cost anything!

I imported my BMW GS to France. The procedure is the following :
- you have to obtain the Certificate of Conformity. A lot of places can deliver them in France, just look for "certificat de conformité yamaha" in Google. In the case of BMW, it was BMW France directly that issued the document. The role of that document is to confirm that your Yamaha bike is conform to EU regulations. It lists all the information necessary for the motorbike title document in EU - "carte grise" in French
- you have to obtain the confirmation from the tax office that the bike is clear from their point of view (yes, everybody wants their part of the cake). The tax office will issue a document called "quitus fiscal". In my case they asked for the insurance confirmation in the country of bike's origin and the purchase contract for the bike in order to prove that the bike was not stolen
- once you have your conformity certificate and confirmation from the tax office you go to the ANTS site (
https://ants.gouv.fr), you send your scanned documents + "demande de certificat d'immatriculation" and you will obtain your temporary owner's title. The definitive version will be sent by the Post.
Concerning the headlight, I don't think that you'd be bothered with that - there is no Technical Control (MOT) for motorbikes in France, so there is no one that can control it. The only danger that I can see is the fact that the certificate of conformity would mention that the bike is the UK specification.
I hope that it will help
cheers

I imported a few BMWs a while ago. I had to get a letter from a main dealer stating that it had a kmh Speedo and a correct dip beam.
As I said this was a few years ago ( shit 10 now I reflect) and the rest of the procedure was as above. However I have a friend who is a professional who had a monstrous headache importing something recently from the UK, maybe it was a vehicle that didn't have a COC (US Model for example)as I know in that case it involves expensive technical tests at a ADAC centre in Marseille.
I had a ZZR1100 that had a 'neutral' headlamp with a flat beam and both arrows on the lens.

Well there you go, you learn something new ever day, mind you i don`t think that was the case years ago? it either had to throw to the left or the right (remember those sticky things we had to put on the headlights) or is that just me showing my age?

I was shocked too. It was on a UK 1990 bike. I will look out for that on bikes and take a pic.

This one looks symmetrical.
This UK document confirms flat ones are OK. 3rd paragraph.

Certainly not the case with my XT where seemingly each country had a different light set up. Mine (french) is the LH? dip 55/60 and full and the other is only full. I think UK bikes had to be symmetrical with 2 35/35 bulbs.
