Shortening the side stand - but by how much?

I have lowered my 2011 Tenere XT660z by 40mm. (Don’t flame me, I’ve got short legs, OK?)

I’ve ordered another side stand so that I can shorten it and fit it. (The stock side stand keeps the bike almost vertical). I will keep the stick stand to sell with the bike, along with the dog bones, to sell with the bike.

So how much should I shorten by? My geometry skills are non-existent.

Thanks in advance, you clever people!

I think 20 mm will give you a good result.

Kindly regards Brage

Thanks, Brage. That was my intuition too.

It's going to be cut and re-welded, so I only want to do this once :-)

Hi if you are going to the effort of welding it you could go down the route of welding a threaded bolt with a plate for a foot therefore making it adjustable? There are loads of examples of aftermarket versions to copy on google.

That’s a good idea, Charlie. I’ll see how much my local man will charge to do that.
