Hi
Now that I am finishing the resto I was wondering wich is the widest tire I could fit on the back?
Say 140/80/18 would fit? Karoo2 orT-63 desert?
Any advice
Gracias

I am using Hidenau 140/80/18.

It is a tight fit on the 1VJ Tenere, about 4mm clearance each side.

So info on XT.de is that early Teneres(34L,50T,55W) can use a maximum of a 130/18 on the back. That is due to the oil tank on the back.
Now actionman your 1VJ has a oil tank identical to our early models too?

Ive got Kenda K772 Carlsblad tires on two of my bikes, more suited to dirt riding though not road use.

These are 110/100 - 18 (i think)

You see Mez there is no much left space there between tank and tire.......

Yep about 10mm tank clearance, and about 15mm around the swigarm (by where the shock mounts).
Chain does look a tad rusty, id be putting a new set on anyhow when i get round to its restoration (years away)

Them tires are off the pair i brought from the farmer, his mate owned them most of there lives & they was mainly used as desert race bikes.
Apparently one of these bikes (the one with the upgraded shock) has had lots of work done to its engine & its a bit of an animal to ride.
