Rear lamp problem

Hi all, long time watcher, first time poster.
I now have a 1vj. ‘87 from Switzerland.
When I was refitting the Rev counter cable, I have moved the wires from behind the head light. All the front lights and panel lights work, but I have made the rear stop and tail lights fail. I’ve checked the rear bulbs and they are all good. Just no power to them. Any suggestions?
Ps great build quality on these bikes, compared to modern bikes. Thanks

Simple things first. Did you check the rear wires with a voltmeter to test for 12v and also test for a good ground? Since the running light and brake light are on different circuits it could be as simple as a bad ground.

You could try testing continuity of your brake circuit by disconnecting the brake connector and seeing if you are getting continuity on the two pins from the brake lever switch. Also check for 12v power on the wiring harness pins.

Hope this gets you going in the right direction
