Tenere 3AJ with 1VJ Frame ?

Hello everyone
Just joined forum (after few month sneaking around ) ,I own Xt600 and always want to have Tenere.
Last Wednesday I bought one - Italian import white and red .
Bike I bough was Tenere Xt600 1990 (that what was in advert ) but after that close look the frame is 1VJ !
Engine cylinder is 3Aj , rear disk brake , twin light - it looks like proper 3AJ.

Did you come across this type of conversion ?

Just wonder if is worth keep it ?

Are you sure its a 1VJ frame? are you reading the number that is stamped in to the frame (on the right side of headstock) that should match the aluminium rivet on compliance tag, and should be the on the engine (right side of engine) should all start with !VJ

yes it is 1vJ on the frame ,aluminum plate is missing.
I have Italian logbook with the number - 1vj014357 which is matching frame and engine.

Can you please let me know how I can attach pictures it can maybe helps to identify the model .

Pictures are hosted off site by an image host, then the URL is linked to your post by inserting the URL of your picture in the IMG tab.

Most of us used Photobucket until that went to shit, try this free image host.

I think I read on here quite a while ago that Brazil mixed and matched their frames, ie: 3AJ stuff onto 1VJ, or was it 1VJ stuff onto 3AJ

its deffo a 3AJ (later one, grey motor and larger oil cooler), any chance of a pic showing the frame number on the headstock and the engine number (r/h crank case)? if the frame is indeed identified as *1VJXXXXXXXXXX* it would be a bit..........strange

it is definitely 1vj number on the frame and looks oryginal.
What is the main difference between 3aj and 1vj frames ?

Question - is this bike "hybrid" worth to keep (I'm planing some long and demanding adventures) ?

The front of the headstock will have the mounting bracket to hold the the fairing. The 1VJ doesn't have this as standard so it would be interesting to see if it looks like after market welding or factory style welding? good to see some more photo's Charlie
