Carb inlet manifolds.

Hey everyone,
After owning a few twin carb yamahas and an old twin carb XR350 I already know how its a common problem that the rubber delaminates from the alloy part of the manifold.

So now that I have finally started stripping my 2 85 XT's I aquired a few months ago, I wasn't surprised to have the manifolds fall apart.

Now getting the point of this thread, in searching for replacements, I am quite surprised how frequently the part numbers have changed, but they dont seem to be "updates", the earlier models still require their original part numbers... to me I look at the inlet manifolds as something that can't really have changed much, head ports have stayed the same, the carbs have barely changed, maybe e-start required shifting the inlets??? but surely these inlet manifolds are essentially the same accross much longer spans than the part numbers let on?

So i wanted to know if anyone has done the research and decided which ones are compatible across different year models?
If there is ones which are less restrictive? (TT600?)
If you can use one without the blanked off vac hose (seriously who actually needs this??? I know its for the Californian anti pollution box)

Any info you can offer would be much appreciated.

Its actually for the 1VJ & 3AJ Tenere`s, they use a vacum fuel pump.

Looks cheap enough... but doesn't say it will fit my 84-86 model XT600???

KEDO is specific in saying that the ones that fit E models wont fit on pre87 models.

If you read his "Item specifics" box it says OEM replacement 43F/1VJ-1358/13596-00

They will physically fit any TT or XT but the internal diameter could be different (but i doubt it) so measure your pair (left & right) & PM the seller to double check.

But from checking the 43F fiche against his Item specifics box id say are what your looking for.

Back then... we came to the conclusion, that the old TT Intake rubbers (34K stamped on them) are all the same up to the 34L, 2KF, 43F.

So all the Kick start only models have the same. (Old TT ones have plastik base instead of aluminium, which is good, because plastic and rubber does not seperate due to corrosion.)

The later TT (Belgarda) and XT E versions ( also 3AJ and 1VJ ? dunno right now ) had a diffrent angle.
Yes, it has got to do with the diffrent Carby. (Mechanical versus the Diaphragma Ones)

Searching the sellers OTHER XT600 ITEMS i found the right ones 43F RUBBERS thanks for the heads up Oli.

yeah he has quite a lot of stock! and some of that pricing seems quite good.

I take it the pricing difference is 2 different brands (made in china vs made in japan).

Shame no one reproduces the plastic TT ones olli talks about, I'm guessing you can still find the plastic ones on yamaha parts websites? I'll look into that.

I would say that`s the case, i would compare prices & possibly do a bulk buy (combine postage).

OK, so now shift to the intake tubes on the airbox side of the carbies....

some "genius" previous owner mustn't have enjoyed taking them off the normal way so modified them


So in searching all the OEM parts sites, it appears that they only stock the left one, and the right side is discontinued?

Now, its not just a case of buy the left side flip it over and bobs your uncle is it? I dont think they are symmetrical, but maybe they are and its just such an odd shape they can be flipped?
