Hi folks I just joined the forum after purchasing the bike of my teenhood dreams, an '85 tenere 34L.. It's a 9/10 low mileage beast that I'll be taking to Spain this summer and riding round the north, particularly Galicia and around. So, onto my questions.. I've researched and discovered this model suffers from soft suspension and a dicky oil cooler. Oh, and not to forget the 5th gear made of plastacine. Can anyone give me advice as to anything else I should be aware of (other than just general maintenance) on this bike.
Also, any good trail tips for North Spain (esp Santander to Santiago de Compostella) Thanks in advance :)

How do add photos?? :)

What do you call low mileage?
open up a photobucket account, load your photos onto there, then use the image code to link to them here.

By low I mean 11,000 miles. I'm sure there's bikes with less around..but this one's had an easy life. The tank is spotless as are the plastics. Some corrosion on the rims and I believe I should get them tested for hairline cracks?? In any case.. I'm a happy camper. The second pic shows the oil cooler shroud.. Does it look like a bit has snapped off to anyone? It pivots back and forth on the lug at the top.. seems ike it should be fastened down somewhere..

Looks very original, would be an 84 bike not 85 (that was the 55W year) oil cooler looks OK.

Rims look OK, only way to tell is taking the tire off & removing the tape to find cancer (use that word in the search box for examples)

Mezo.

Does look rather good, and yes, 11000 is low, doubt you would find lower

It's a B reg.. first hit the road on 5th Feb 1985. The matching frame and engine numbers start with 34L.. ??

I presumed that made it a 34L model...? Any ideas?

As you say, 34L numbers would indicate a 34L, But, the 34L had chain adjustment via the inside of the Swingarm, maybe they had a swap over period between the models
