Yami´s engine thread

I will take some engines apart and not doing this before I know I will be asking
a lot of questions. Better have it all in one thread then start a lot of new threads every time.
Hope you guys read the thread and help me out.
First, what special tools do I need?
I know I might have to purchase a flywheel puller and a tool for dismantling the valves.
Where can I get those to a reasonable price?
Second, I will start dismantling and fix the parts below on the picture.
Is it ok to sandblast all surfaces on these parts (rocket cover, valve head and cylinder head)
or should I avoid doing it somewhere?
I will of course dismantle all internal parts before sandblasting. Better to ask then doing anything wrong.
Thanks

I sandblast everything, well on aluminum I use glassbeads but a fine sand works. I don't blast the inside area much but it won't do any harm, but definitely stay away from the cam journals, put a good tape on them to make sure you don't hit them. I take a light face cut on mating surfaces anyways(not the top of head and valve cover).
For valve removal the special tools works best but I've used a tall "C" clamp that I welded some standoffs on opposite side so the keepers can come out and put back in. If the valves are in good shape I have lapping compound to reseat , but it is limited. Get a set of tips for an air blaster that are long tubes so they can be shoved down in the holes to blow all sand/gunk out.
Good quality torque wrench is a must
I use 1/4" and 3/8" drive allen head sockets so I can use a rachet on allenhead bolts rather than just the standard allen wrenches and "T"'s.
good set of 6 point socket and wrenches to not round boltheads.
27mm and 30 or 32mm impact sockets = crank nut and balancer nut ,clutch nut is one of those also.
.

@ XTRIDER, have you found anything for removing the clutch arm bearings?

Noobs as I am, is there some tools for removing bearings in Engines?
Normally in Swingarm and so on I just knock em out.
@xtrider, that was good info, thanks
Seemes to be a lot of different flywheelspullers and valve tools out there.
Can you please point out what kind I need to purchase for managing TT and XT´s?
Some Ebay link for example.
Not really sure what you mean with "light face cut" but I can guess. Think I know what can be sandblasted now
and what isn´t good doing.

Blind hole puller is the device either with slide hammer or one with legs, you maybe able to improvise using a rawl bolt with a pair of vise grips and a hammer if you warm the case up carefully with a heat gun a bit...
Be careful not to destroy bearing too much if possible as they get harder to extract when there's fuck all left to try and get a purchase on..

Thanks for info, appreciate all help I can get.
Todays work.
Just made sure the threads was ok. On my last XT I had to helicoil some of them.
But these are fine.
Found a tool to pull of the valve springs with.
Tried to mark them with the dremel. Very hard material in those valves.
After 1 and 2 the marker was shot. Have to bag them instead to keep track of them.
First valve is out, but I wonder if there is some more to take away before sandblasting?
That in second picture wont come of but maybe it shouldn´t.

This is the reason i say "refer to Clymer manual, OEM service info & the OEM part fiche" in combination.
The OEM part fiche will give you more detail in how the bike is put together.
Mezo.

I think you are refering to number 5 in Mezo's diagram. Use a magnet to help lift it out.

I saw that answer coming Mezo.
I am a bit unsure of things when it´s unknown territory the whole way.
Warned you about many dumb questions in this thread.
But it might help someone else too.
How do you get that last thingy (number 5) out without damage anything?
