1VJ passed out?!

Greetings to all!
My name is Joni and I am from Finland. I thought to post here my question, when it seems that I am almost the only one in Finland, which has a 1VJ wheel, or of knowledge here is the bad side of the hobby. So, my question is that what happen yesterday when I drove about 300 miles of mixed driving, and suddenly the bike passed out while on the road 80 km / h and won't start!. Gasoline will be already well judging by the smell, but the spark is lost. The stator has been changed in recent times and the ignition coil. I have no idea what it is likely to be broken?! I hope not CDI! Thanks in advance and sorry for the literary language

I would check to see if you have a shorted or damaged Kill wire that may be grounding (Earthing). Remove your tank, locate the CDI, locate the black wire with white stripe. Unplug the wire. This will remove the handlebar and the ignition kill function. If something on that wire is grounding (earthing) the wire, this will remove that. IF it still will not spark, check for broken wires going to the stator and other wires of the CDI and Coil Orange wire. If the wires check out and are not broken you may have a dead CDI. Look carefully at the connections on each wire to make sure the wire inside the insulation is not broken, sometimes the break is hidden from view.
Good Luck
Steve

OK!
Is this the same black / white wire are also dealing with clutch lever switch because it is just hanging loose? Need to check tomorrow, all the shops are open. Is there a way to check the cdi resistance values or something? Thanks in advance!

I do not have any info on the clutch switch. Could be. Removing the black/white wire loose from the CDI will remove any kill function. What year model is your bike? Sounds like it may be a newer model with electric start. IF so, you have a TCI ignition, not a CDI and the info I gave will probably not help as wiring is different. Have you checked fuses... Battery? Newer TCI equipped bikes need a battery for the bike to run and a dead battery is a problem.

My bike is most leikkely 1986-1987, but cdi is under the bench and yes it is with electric start.. Is it possible that Some have adde newer system on that bike or isnt that normal with these year models?

The USA never got the Tenere models with electric start 1VJ (86-87) then the 3AJ (88-90) its not TCI that came on the XT600E (3TB) from 1990 onwards, both 1VJ & 3AJ used CDI`s.

Thank you for the info, probably won't remember it. I still don't know about a clutch switch, it could be a possible problem if it is part of a kill function. If so then removing the black/white wire at the CDI will still isolate it and should affect the starting from that standpoint.

Hello again everyone!
Yesterday I checked the wiring to the black / white wire and grabbed it off, but the start-up voltage of the ignition coil black and orange before the removal of a 0.45 V when I took off to 0.65 V, so the connection a little bit improved, but should have something to 12V that the ignition coil to provide a spark, I guess?! Btw yesterday I found a page where I feel pretty great price CDI units for 1VJ/1VK/1VL/2RW www. hpi . de! I thought that if this does not lead to anything now, so I think cdi quit? Annoying, but when there is not anyone who would have the same motor, that i could test the functioning CDI...
