I have a headlight problem I think, well 2 actually.
1- When the lights are put on normal full beam only one light is on (is this right? I think not) and on full beam that light goes out and the other one comes on !
2 - How on earth do I get at the bulbs? I have looked at how to disasemble the front fairing but cannot see how to do it. I have a manual but it is just the xt one so useless for the 3AJ.

The 3AJ twin headlight model was sold in many different markets. Most registering authorities made Yamaha only light one lamp at a time, so what you have is correct.

Of course many owners modified their lights to have twin hi/lo beams fitted and appropriate changes to the wiring loom.

If you do this mod. be careful that you only use 35/55w globes or you will overload the charging system and end up with a flat battery on a long ride with high beams on.
