Hello hello, hope every one is good, time for an up date.
Now i've always been hard on my things shoes, tools, clothes, myself, cars, girl friends oops,
but this takes the cake :eekers:
Image
I was at friends place and roughly 6 months ago and i hurt my tailbone badly on the pe175 whent of the jump like a pogo stick.
and since then wasn't game enough on the jumps, well i got the shits with myself 3 weeks ago and started hitting the jumps real hard, repeatedly
20 feet long and about 12 feet high roughly and this is the result. bump stop destroyed too!

Image
Oh and the left foot peg bracket is a little off too! and friends daughter's kx65 foot pegs fit my tt like a charm...
dam it was fun, arms that fatigued couldn't brake anymore.
Image
This is compared to the stock spring which is too soft, standard 11mm, ktm 12mm. the ktm spring that broke was too soft as well.
So ivé herd that drz400 springs fit quite well, so i need to figure out spring rates, thats my next step for the rear shock.
The front forks have 20psi in them and are working well for now, will get better springs later, fork seals won't like the 20psi for ever.
Image
Image
I hate lacing rims.. took the fourth attempt to get it to work, had to fit all spokes in the hubb then start with the single spokes then flip it and do the two piece spokes.
Did a test fit to make sure the rim and hubb match to get them powder coated, i think they do, one concern is every 2nd spoke is too long on the two piece side and every 4th on the single side,
and the nipples bottom out before the spoke is tight, is it ok or don't powder coat? or just get it done professionally,
your opinions are welcome
I'm sure the hubb and rim are 59x as they had part no.s  stupid rim.
And it only has one hole for the valve that's it, no rim lock for this rim.

Almost forgot getting these tomorrow too. not saying how much.. :eekers:

Hello hello once again, a little update, while i wait for the drz spring i got coming, 48 bucks a steal i think, i thought i would throw on the
new manifolds i got a while ago, of ebay of course.
Image
didn't trust the old ones.
Image
Image
Main reason is ivé been chasing a fluctuating idle, through the course of a days ride it would become to high then a little later too low,
very annoying, then occasionally stall, but! i figgered the stalling thing, i was cranking the engine over by hand and noticed i wasn't hitting compression
I'm not that hard on it geez, better check valve clearances, sure enough left inlet had no clearance, the rest were fine, keep an eye on that one though.
Also good to see that the engine isn't getting dusted.
Image
Image
Right side is just stains i swear.
I also got a after market exhaust off ebay bit pricey but not many options out there.
down side is it's for a xt350 but i made it work, forgot to get pics, will get them soon, definitely keeping the standard exhaust for road duties, don't want to be a pest.
That is all i have for now hope to get the shock sorted this week miss riding it already.

He's trying to run the bike with an intake valve held open some from too tight a valve . :oilleak:

yes mezo i did, had to run with it until i got the new ones, and after fitting them, the other carby and adjusting the intake valve it is running very well, steep learning curve this bike is,
but a good one, every time i go in the shed and see it sitting there it makes me feel good inside, it's everything i hoped it would be and more, i will never sell this thing.

And it is a little over full but it doesn't smoke at all thankfully got about 2.4L in it you can see the intake tubes are dry i think the old manifolds are just soaked with fuel. smile:

Hey you big meanie  I honestly wouldn't think it would close up this quick the valve clearance that is, might have got it wrong or the valve is receding, hope not!

thank you for the comments.

Another update, finally got the exhaust and shock sorted today, shock not so well.
Image
looks good with the drz spring but the retainers are too small for the spring and is way too soft for me at 125kg with gear, this spring is rated at 5.3kg.
I know stuff all about suspension unfortunately so i can only guess the spring rate i need or just go for the heaviest one
i can get? there is one on ebay rated at 6.7kg sounds a lot heavier?? any advise is welcome  more research needed.
Now the exhaust i'm on the fence about the sound although it is snappier but it's a bit farty.. run it for a bit and see.
Image
And the hack job
Image
And old faithful
Image
Got a few things coming in soon for the bike gasket sets, better fork boots, new ignition lock, another headlight, side plastics, stickers and new tank, then stuff gets powder coated.
That's all for now.

Wasn't trying to mean there.

I think the stock XT's spring is 6.7kg, so that ebay one is for a stock bike,

I think :bag:

All good, i used race tec spring rate calculator and it said i need a 6.7kg spring, stock drz is 5.3kg
see how i go, all learning curve here. can you measure your xt spring thickness?

I was just trying to verify that 6.7 and thought it was on Race tech website that had that but there is no longer an XT600 listed, only 350 and the TT600.

What did you say to them that had them yank it ?    ,

:hide:

My manual says 8.33kg/mm, quite the difference,
