That's a serious knock

Hope the cause is under the clutch cover, not between the cases.

For this type of fault finding, I recommend a proper mechanics stethoscope, like this.

Very sensitive......you can hear water flowing in radiator hoses! :shades:
You can buy one for less than ten quid.
"Don't worry," he said, "things could be worse ........."
So I stopped worrying and lo and behold, things did get worse!

Clutch plates out of order and outer plate not seated properly or kicker return spring incorrectly installed.

Are those bright marks on the clutch gear teeth chips or bruises? :sherlock:

Also......Like he said, kick spring holder missing.

Well spotted Jibber... no bright marks on the gears Dave, it's a reflection off the flash.....

When I took all the screws out of the casing, I gave it a tap with my mallet to free it off & the there was a loud clang as the spring let go from wherever Bruce had it wedged & it hit the inside of the case.... it also whacked my fingers as I eased the case off over the dowels.... :pissed:

Can't see anything else wrong, nothing fell out so he didn't have anything in there holding the spring.

I'll fit a stopper & re-assemble it, see how it is... :dunno:

Flippin eck, i had to go back to page one & check. :working:

I thought you rebuilt that engine? it was so long ago (2011) i forgot you just cleaned it up & bunged it in the freshly painted frame.
