I really like Dunlop 606's for mostly dirt with some street riding capable. Great offroad traction, a little harder compound so they can handle asphalt.

I had run a set of these IRC Volcano VE-33 on my XL. They hooked up in just about anything, just don't run them on the road, soft and real squirrely . Won't last very long on anything but dirt/mud.

For a bit more street and dryer dirt/offraod I do like my IRC GP-110's. CCheaply priced but after 1000 miles, mostly street, I can barely see any wear. I live on a gravel road so they hold up good to that , just not as good when things get wet.

Just so used to the golden rims of the Teneres, but it does look a lot better with some stickers :nordie:
there's a good chance this bike will see many variations in the coming years, gold rims is one of them also a race replica of some sort,
good times ahead!

ivé herd good things about the 606's, are they road legal? to cover both on and off road would be good for now. you have a good selection of tyres there.

That's good to know, thank's mezo.

Now on a serous note, for some reason i've been thinking about when i put the motor together, the part were i got the new bearings for the gearbox,
i remember the guy at cbc (bearing place) saying one of the bearings doesn't have seals, no problems just use the one that's on the old one right?
when i looked at the seal it was shredded in the centre, i thought that's no good doesn't need it anyway, i thought it was just another barrier for the oil.
just recently i was reading about the cavity between the bearing and c shaft seal they were saying it has oil pressure there :yikes:

i just checked the workshop manual and sure enough it is part of the gearbox feed system, so now i have this knot in my stomach that wont go away!
what makes this worse is that 3 and a bit weeks till i go on holidays and i don't think i can get it sorted before then time and money.
will it be ok for a little bit? or just split it again? talk about a gut rencher! advice would be great..

It is never clearly mentioned in the service manual, but the two LH gearbox bearings should be the sealed type with the inner seals removed. This allows some of the return oil to lube the inner part of the gearbox shafts and gears.

If the outer seals are left out (no seals at all), oil may not fully return to the oil tank and the lube to the gearbox would be compromised.

I think you will have to split the cases and rectify. :omg:
"Don't worry," he said, "things could be worse ........."
So I stopped worrying and lo and behold, things did get worse!

Yes it's a bit of a fuck up...walk away for bit, swear at it,then pull apart again and use sealed bearings.maybe the people that wrote the manual didnt look properly at how the lubrication circuit works either..
