Problem is, it´s for the TT only. The headlightfairing is very close to the tripleclamp/fork. And so is this rack.
Your Tenere needs a rack thats a bit more away from the fork.

Hello to all!
I had a very close look at all the wiring, connectors, switches and so on. (including my abilities as an electrician)
The result is: I will switch completly to a XT 600 43F electric.
This will give me proper 12 Volts and a very good supply for good parts.

Many things in this process are allready achieved.
The engine I installed is a XT 600 43F engine. So I don´t have to swap the alternator.
It seems that the CDI from the TT is interchangeable. All connectors found the counterpart and they are all have the right colour.
There was an issue about the ignitiontiming when interchanging the (lighter) TT flywheel to a 43F stator. Somebodies leg got broken by missfire... the kickstarter will come back. (posted on xtforen.de) To avoid this you have to use the TT pickup on the 43F stator.
But they don´t tell something about using the TT CDI on a complete 43F alternator. (flywheel plus stator plus pickup 43F)
Can somebody tell something about it? Must be possilble me thinks...
I found somebody on Ebay who sold all missing electricityparts from a 43F.
So the adventure "electric on my bike" will turn out easy for me.
The electric on a 43F is very simular to the electric on a 34L/55W.

Biggest problem : Where to put the battery?
The TT (6 Volt) battery is located under the left sidepanel. It sits in a very small box and has about 3 Ah.
The XT 600 43F battery is much bigger (5,5 Ah I think)
Is it possible to put a weaker (lets say 3 Ah) 12 Volt battery in the 12 Volt electric ?
Or will the weaker battery be cooked/destroyed by the alternator as it is designed for 5,5 Ah ?
I have no idea about this. Maybe somebody can help?

What are your dimensions of your battery area Fred? width, depth, height?

It may be possible to mount an AGM battery on its side.

Good idea. Study the LH cover carefully. TT is magnesium and the XT is aluminium. This alone may account for the slight difference in pickup mounting points.

All the XT/TT CDI boxes can be swapped if you know what you are doing. There are five essential input wires (pickup coil-3, AC generator-2) and two output wire(ign coil + and -). All others are for kill switch)
Another thing to remember with the CDI is that NO BATTERY or lighting wiring is required for the engine to run, so when trouble shooting a no start condition you can ignore all the other wiring.

Why do you want to use the TT flywheel? Yes it is lighter, but some of the alternator magnets are missing and your 12v power output will be reduced. Now check that the ign point is the same.Lay the two flywheels on the bench. Point the keyway to 12 0'clock. The ignition sensor magnets (2) are on the outside of the wheel. One at about 12 o'clock and one at about 2 o'clock. Are both flywheels the same? Here is a picture of an XT600 alternator.


If you wish you can eliminate the battery and replace it with a CAPACITOR. Yamaha themselves did this on the 1997 Belgarda TTR600. 24v 10,000uf would work fine.
