 I think its the first time I did anything right first time on this build, saying that I bought them from the wrong place, never mind.

Parts, I need help, I'm having trouble getting gears, 5Y1-17131-00-00 and 5Y1-17151-01-00 3rd and 5th pinion, Yam tells me their no longer available, any ideas in Europe? USA if I'm stuck?

Had a look on cms nl earlier and now showing discontinued on there too.......and they are the kings of selling stuff they don't actualy have...
If worst comes you could have the new gear set that's in the donor motor I have here to get you up and going..
Did your yamaha dealer find any numbers that had been superseded?

Not really sure, they never said any were superseded they usually do. they even ordered the now unavailable parts, 5Y1-17131-00-00 and 5Y1-17151-01-00, only to phone me up later to say unavailable. :(
Can we blame the guru? is DL stocking up for the future?

What is the difference between the '85 (600N in USA) and the '88 (600U), the parts your looking for only in the 88 are 1VJ instead of 5Y1 otherwise the rest is the same and are showing available over here but not yours. I have run into other parts that only the first letters are different like these but the part is the same or the critical dimensions are just minor changes and are just made for a different model or an atv (Raptor) instead of bike.

Yes there's definitly some of the slightly later models that have some ingredients numbered 34l or 5y1 in them, suggesting there's some items that will interchange.

I'm confused, which isn't hard, 5Y1-17131-00-00 and 5Y1-17151-01-00 could well be hiding under a different part number, but which one, surely (don't call me sherley) if Yamaha could offer a supercided they would wouldn't they? if Yamaha say there unavailable are they not?
I'm gonna request from another yam dealer see what happens.

Nice find sock, had a quick look with zero returns, It could well be, I need to find out if "29138 Sprocket, 3rd Gear, Input Shaft (20T)" is a pinion gear? I'm guessing seeing sprocket in the title its a wheel/driven, same amount of teeth.
I could be confused. :kboom:

I'm getting my lazy ass in gear, Yami's build in inspiring me.

I found 3rd and 5th pinion in Holland and Germany from private sellers, now no longer available from Yamaha.

A front NOS cowl coming from Check republic.

Fitted the decals with the aid of DVD's, a little lower than I wanted but its only decals on a dirt bike right...

the front sections were the hardest a bit of guess work but you know when its wrong, I consider myself unskilled in this so its a anyone can do kinda thing.
