Good news though, I've found a company who 'say' they can repair my case.
I didn't take a pic of the damage but, it knocked a lump out where the output shaft protrudes through the case, problem was/is (I thought amyway) there's a small oil hole in the case that feeds oil to the out put shaft bearing.... welding it up would block the hole, this firm reckon they can weld it up then re-drill the gallery afterwards...... :funkynanna:

Ok..... been trying to figure out how to fix my cylinder head.... the previous owner (bodging bastid) had obviously broken off 2 cylinder head studs so he's drilled 'em out & re-tapped the threads, trouble is he's drilled & tapped them at the wrong angle.... so as I'm going to pick up my crankcase & barrel I thought I'd ask the guy if he can do anything....and have it vapour blasted too...

Some before pics...

This was outside when arrived at their shop....

I suggested to the bloke he ought to get a can of WD40 & a rag & clean it up a bit, it was minging.... he gave me a fuck off & mind your own business look...

Anyway this is my repaired crankcase.... he's welded the broken piece back on, but because it was so thin it distorted where the seal fits, so he bored the hole out bigger & fitted a phosphur bronze bush for the seal to fit in....

& this is my shiny vapour blasted barrel  I don't want to paint it now....

But.... when I was inspecting my barrel I noticed this mark in the bore.... I hadn't noticed it before & the bloke who cleaned it didn't notice either 'cos he remarked on what good condition the bore was in .....

That's what I used with mine, but use a solvent i.e. varsol as a lubricant as that helps cut through the glazing. The first time I honed my cylinder I used a soluble oil, it took me freaking ages for an average result. my buddy came along, used a splash of solvent and was done in a couple of mins! :holawave:

My old fella used to use paraffin, same when he was porting he would dip his tool (whey hey) in a pot sat on the bench.
