This is turning out to be a shopping thread. Cause today I have done it again.
Responded on a local advert a while ago where this bloke had leftover spare parts
from mostly XT´s. Gave him an offer he wouldn´t take, until today. smile:

Spreading it out it is a lot of stuff. Probably never have any use for most of it.
But you never know. It is good to have laying around. smile:

And here is some of the goodies. A usefull 34K cylinder with okay piston and rings.
A 34L Rocker cover and valve cylinder. Carburators and a camchaft.

Looks worse then it is.

Camshaft fitted right in into my newly sandblasted 34K valve cylinder.
Have to measure the tolerances on it though.
Don´t know if it´s for a 34K or 34L but most of the stuff seemes to be for XT´s.

Nothing broken on this 34L but not in the same nice shape as the other one I purchased.

As I told before I got this tip about them. Gave the seller an offer on them both cause
I couldn´t resist them. Took some time but he finally agreed. Today I am the
owner of 2 matching 3YF and they are both runners but need a lot of love.
Don´t really know yet if one of them will affect my building plans for #2.
Heavier engine and no kicker....hmmm, we´ll see about that.

This deal is not according to build plans. Just a deal to good to say no too.
However, one of them might get involved in #2 just don´t know yet. Future will tell. I like to have options. smile:

Just sold my TDM900, a bit sad cause I really liked that engine. :cry:

Advantages/disadvantages using a XTZ660 engine

Inserting a XTZ660 engine into an XT/TT frame, what advantages/disadvantages can you forsee?
I´m trying to collect info so I can make a decision what path to go with #2, hope you can give me some of your thoughts.

What I can spot right now.

Advantages.
* Lower gravity when engine is heavier.
* Watercooling.

Disadvantages.
* Bike gets in total heavier. Anyone got a number on the weights of XT600/TT600 vs XTZ660 engines?
* No kicker.
* Watercooler might get in the way for high mounted front fender.

Would have thought the center of gravity would get higher with the weight of the radiator, fan, expansion tank, frame fittings and water
