nice work, if you spray with two pack clear laquer it will bond to the resin, Acrylic laquer is a bit "soft". use hairspray to stop the carbon fraying.

I'm working on a project in Spain and on my bike here. I'm using the same technique as the tank protector to reinforce and enhance the plastics. Since there's quite a lot of clearcoat carbon on the bike I wanted to downplay it so used a matt finish. I use PPG matt as it's already pre mixed and gives me the same effect, which is difficult using flatting base added to a gloss. I use SP 115 resin to make the piece, then brush on coats of gloss PPG clear, rubbing back with 320 grit until there is a flat surface then spray a final coat of PPG matt. The side stand is from a solid bit of scrap carbon off cut.

I've found silver twill ( glass cloth with an aluminium coating) available from Easy Composites ( as well as a variety of carbon twill weaves). I made a sample from the mould for my screen. Too bright for a screen in my opinion but great for a belly pan. A bit stiff to drape but keeps it's weave pattern better than carbon twill.
