Well, good question. I'm getting rather attached to this bike, we've been through quite a lot together, I'm starting to get to know it rather well and I've spent quite a lot of money on it since I've been away. If I can get it home cheaply then I'll bring it back.
I'm already thinking about going east to New York in a couple of years time.

Whoa. That input shaft is a bit of a nightmare. How exactly do you press the 2nd (well the one on the end) on and off?

Hi Dunc,
I just did that.
With a hydraulic press it was very easy.
You take the gearwheel behind the fixed gear as the counterfort.
Then a socket to press the shaft through the gearwheel.

When you press the new gearwheel on you have to be careful.
Here I took a sparkplugsocket which will fit over the shaftend.
Don´t press the gearwheel to far because the gearwheel behind the fixed gearwheel still needs some free play in order to rotate.
Maybe a gauge will help to evaluate the "play" before pressing the part apart ?
I did it by feeling.

Pressed 2nd from the input shaft this afternoon, I'm just waiting for parts now.
In the meantime, I'm camping on the roof of a backpacker's hostel and shall be working unpaid in a second hand book shop as of next week.
