That would have garrenteed a puncture for me, "sods law" not work in Australia?

The box mount looks a good use of space :congrats:

Looking forward to your ride/handling reports
Feet still reach the floor?

Yer, I'm tall enough that I can touch ground ok. Ride yesterday was interesting, the front comes of the ground a lot easier over the erosion mounds at 80km/h. Weight of the full bike seems ok wrt handling.

I got out for my first real good shake down ride on the weekend

That tool box bracket is not working to well
When you look at the picture I have posted prev, I have a peice of AL angle bent to act a a hook onto the pannier frame
Trouble is that this is digging into the rubber wrap and one of my webbing straps.
I will source a small box section and rivit that on there so this will not dig into the rubber and webbing
Also my vertical webbing strap is not quite right and needs some work

Got my steering damper mounted
The bars are about 4cm higher and 2cm forward than previous
Makes it much better to ride standing, but sitting and the bars feel like a chopper
I don't have the actuater pin welded to the frame yet so can't comment on the damper itself

Got my luggage pretty well sorted now, will post some pic soon with it loaded

The ride was perfect ADV riding till my rear shock blow out its seal and I had to limp home.

Had a go at using a height adjustable screen for either technical stuff (low) or long easy section (high) but it did not quite work out

Being doing some more thinking and planning about what tools I really need to take and what I don't need. I will post up a tool list soon

Damo

Ive got a couple of them round plastic document holders from the states Damo, they was doing a group buy on ADV a couple of years ago & i got two. There are guys selling them on ebay as a tool kit with a tool roll as well, they are very sturdy.

The same guy has a few options on sale, they only retail in the USA for $5.00 & are used to keep documents on farm machinery dry & safe.

WOW, the range has grown. Thats worth looking at, however I'm pretty set on my path now, just need to change the angle to a small square hollow section to prevent the rubbing problems. I like the gear I have in there as it is pretty much most breakdowns, baring radiator leaks

Well the pannier frame mounted tool box has not quite worked out as planned. Sits to close to chain guard and straps not quite right and support bracket needs work. So have decided to leave this one for now as I really have no time left before APC for testing.

Bit of an update
Got rebuilt shock back in but have not had chance to test it
Have decided to use the pannier mounted tool kit, have modified the pannier rack and different straps to hold it in place.

Finally got my rock stompa steering damper mounted, but have not tested other than when I had it mounted previously.

Went to change front brake pads and found out you don't push the caliper apart to fit new one, but release fluid via the bleed bolt. Hmm, don't have a bleed tube so that will have to wait till next week or maybe Renmark.

Still to change oil and check tappets over w/e

Got me acc cabling to the bty tidied up while I fitted the new motobat which was a long over due job.

Had to clean up the top of the air box due to a wet sandy ride recently. I was amazed how much dirt come out of the primary air filter.

Got the gps route now and will load it up to the 60csx and test how tracks work
