Yes I was going to add just pull the line off and turn the tap on and see how fast it comes out after I wrote it but was running late for work

On the return trip of a last long ride we had with a bit of headwind and the performance was just crap. Some suggested swopping fueltanks and fuel lines which with other tenere in garage easy as pie (although not to optomistic) swopped, put new fuel line without filter to my original carb and..........it made no diffs. On the way back giving it max revs through gears saw that it actually does not go past 4500 1st to 3rd and then just not capable in 4th or 5th unless you have a downhill. It sounds like a revlimitter controlling it , engine actually misfiring at 4500, its small and as AM said we are getting closer, any one

Maybe swap over the coil as Actionman says and test, if no change swap stator and pick up. Easy to do just lie the bike on it's side if you don't want to drop the oil and remove stator cover, disconnect wires and do the same to yours, shouldn't take long and will rule out the electric's side of things.

Some guys on local forum "wilddogs" suggested take airfilter right out take bike for ride. As we are desperate gave it a try and found the old dog revving up to 5 again with a splutter and burp on a short ride and took it for a longer ride today and at least back to sort of normal again compared to last trip where it could hardly maintain 80 ,fuckit I do keep a eye on filter, every couple of trips depending on how many dusty kays and wash and re oil, and i thought it wasnt even that dirty, eyesight failing as well. I also found crack in airbox on the rear wheel side which helped loading more crap inside. What filters do you use?, It came with a twinair with a narrow inner foam fitting over the mesch on plastic airfilter box and then a bigger one that envelopes the whole box, through the last year i replaced with Yamaha part which is a brown foam ring that fitts around mesc only. Its seems miles better but still down on cousins tenere where the carbs and cdi came from. Going to hang ball a bit on mech repairs as i need to start its respray job
