You blokes will have to start thinking outside the square....

Use the tap from a TT600,about $15 from boats.net, the only difference is the outlet points down,
rather than to the left or right and the tap sits a little closer to the tank. Just use two of these.

I've just bought a pair of tap rebuild kits from Ebay Germany, about 10 euros each...... much cheaper (also just bought a pair of taps for a tenner of ebay uk & when I opened the package I found they were almost brand new )

Well my new taps finally turned up whacked em in and YAY no more leaky taps. Now to the next issue, since the outlet points down now, when the fuel line is connected back up, it pushes hard against the exhaust..... so have to go get some new fuel hose with an right angle elbow so i can clear the exhaust again. There is a reason the Tenere taps pointed back instead of down lol

I have in front of me 36R-24500-01 and I see with this one there should be no reason to stop me removeing the fuel out brass connection and drilling out to fit in the bottom.
Alternativly why not have a look at see if you can do the reverse of that?

I was going to say that originally, but then thought nah "she`ll be right" i remember my Devil pipe came even closer to the fuel taps than the standard pipe & there's no way on earth you would be able to fit a downward tap.

You may have to put a 90° bend on there somehow?

I will find out on Tuesday when I can get in to get some, it seems to have enough room to put a 90 degree join off the end of the tap. If all else fails, i can take the insides out of the new tap and refit the old right hand side tap with the new internals to stop it leaking and no clearance problems either. Will find out in a couple days.. what a pain, missed out on a birthday ride.. Murphy's Law i suppose lol

Ok, tried a few different size bends and even with the smallest one I could get, it still ran too close to the exhaust for my liking. So I took the plunge and stripped all the new bits outta the new tap and rebuilt the old tap with new guts, works a treat, no leaks and no clearance issues!! YAY Although I had to retain the original plate on the front of the tap where it has stamped which way is on, off and reserve, the new one had the the notch on the wrong side, so it would have been upside down to fit it correctly. So it looks like a frankenstein tap with a shiny new tap and screws with a dark , age wearied plate and housing lol. But it works thats the main thing. Cheers for all the advice everyone

You can always use my old trick. Keep the rh tap turned off. When he bike starts to run of fuel, turn on the rh tap for a few minutes to allow the fuel to balance out, then shut it off again. Next time it runs out, just keep rh tap open.
As the snorkels fall out of the taps regularly, this is the only method I trust when travelling on trips. You just have to work out the distance you can travel between tap shunts.(normally done on home turf with 5litre can.
