Time for a rebuild - Pyes 660

While I'm here does anyone know if the 660 ever came with a crud guard or some sort of weather protection running under the seat area? Mine hasn't and I've never been sure if it was by design it default

Mine never had any guard apart from that bit of foam under the seat that seals against the rear of the air box, which in a way says there's nothing else.

noticed you got your frame back, looks spot on. I've bunged my lines but struggling to find something suitable for the oil filler. Just wondered what you used?

Just a big washer I had, probably from a car suspension mount. In the pic there are 2 washers on the long bolt, the smaller 1 sits in the bottom of the filler neck, the large 1 covers the top, I stuffed an oily rag round the bolt between as an extra precaution

Thought it was bout time for an update

Finally braved powder coating frame..

Using the helpfull advice off Rick I plated up and bunged various feeds and threads

Then frame was dipped and coated :-)

Frame and wheels back


Swing arm and Engine in...



Loom and Forks on...




And how the day finished.



Really happy with how frame and bits have come out

Big thanks to everyone's input so far

Can't wait to get it finished...

Quick question: there is a decent size tube coming from the top of the carb with what looks like a filter inside. I can't remember where it goes and can't seem to see an obvious area...I'm sure it's simple but if anyone can point me in right direction I'd really appreciate it

Coming on nice Matt, the pipe is a breather id imagine & from memory (been asked on here before) it dangles freely a bit like your third leg.

Not like on a 1VJ/3AJ where it plugs into the airbox.,

Yep, you're right Mez
It doesn't connect to anything.

Probably tucks under the right side of the tank mount Matt, the 2 narrow carb vent pipes go under the left & tuck under a tab next to the snorkel.
