Hi Eric
What is the part number of the left hand switchgear in your photo? That has the wiring and switch config that I have been searching for. The ones I found either have no on/off switch or they have more wires and different connector combinations. Most grateful if you could share the part number.

Re: Eric66 34L Resto
Well it seems Yamaha played fast and loose with the charging systems over the years.
I have just double checked the 3AJ wiring diagram and it shows 3 wires for charging.
The Belgarda TT600's had 3 wires, but the early TT had only 2. The XT600 1987 2KF has 2 wires.
3 wires definitely puts out more power and maybe the electric start is the difference.i.e. if it has electric start, it has the stronger charging system.
Anyway, its matters little, the charging wires all seem to be coloured white and thus they can be put on the rectifier any way you like.
You just need to match the alternator you are using with the correct rectifier/regulator.
You can never stop learning about the subtle differences on these bikes!!

So I stopped worrying and lo and behold, things did get worse!

Re: Eric66 34L Resto
Went to a swap meet at Gatton and found a few things, bought these for $50!!

These were still in the oiriginal bag UFO brand , $10!!:

Bought this genuine tool kit unopened for $10!!

Blinkers new after market $5, 2 halogen globes $13, 2 spark plugs $6, carby $20, Horn $2 and some rubber grommets $1.50 !!

The guy I bought one of the carby's off has a 83 Tenere that he bought new, he told me he got a brand new tank as a spare which he still has (but won't sell) and also a spare rack which I am buying when he finds it.
Regards Eric

What a score Eric, especially that new tool kit for a tenner.
Have you seen how much the air deflector on the oil cooler goes for? i think Karl said one just fetched €80.00 recently on German ebay.
