Hmmm, nice, maybe too much work and £££ theres also a very good condition 1985 tenere in west mids for £845, but I fancy something different, no more than 2 pistons and low for my rapidly approaching old age, maybe a neat, nice, high bars, knobbed, bare bones, beemer, boxer, dog bike, not a café racer more a piss taker.

Thanks for the nice replies, just feel a bit low and lost now :( still looking for a final, must be the last, bike re-build. I tempted to get another Dominator (Honda NX650) and chop it up a bit, a street bike, a little lower ride, can't face doing it to mine even though it'll be the best thing to do cost wise.

I did say that me bike was coughing and spitting a bit, I drained me petrol tank to find brown mucky crap with lots of rusty bits, looks like when I washed off the paint stripper waters got into the bottom of tank and rusted it. Any advice? do I really need to seal the tank? recommendations? keeping in mind maybe that the baffles sometimes come loose on these is there a sticky petrol resistant highly dangerous substance I could pour into the tank to seal it? PETSEAL / POR-15?????? or leave it petrol will stop any rust.

POR 15 is supposed to be the best of the best from all the reading ive done.

But like you i would prefer not to line it if possible, im going to have the same problem as you with my tanks (rusty) im going to keep it full of petrol & use one of them plastic in-line fuel filters to catch any crap before it enters the carbie.

If you have some extra energy, you can put rocks, pea gravel, or ball bearings(smallish) inside the tank, close it up and do the shaky- shake. Works depending how badly rusted and how much energy you have. Smaller tanks are more pleasant to do also.

Ive also read using 1/4" drywall screws work with diesel (shakey shakey method) but these 34L tanks are frigging huge & its hard work.

Another method ive heard is filling it up with white vinager overnight, and molasses is another one.
