Did you clean the powdercoat out of the threads Fred?

There was no coating in the threads. They had little foamthingies in there so no coating there. (like you stick in the ears on dragsterracingevents )
The impact of my hammering went through the frame into the bolts in the floor and broke the nut loose. Because that wasn´t the supposed use of the nut and 30 Years of rusting did the rest.
I will try to find out if I ´m able to put a loooong bolt through the whole frame.
If nobody has a better Idea?

Bad luck about the bolt
The original captive nut was resistance welded (spot welding) at the factory. Many car body repairers have this equipment for welding car bodies. I would ask around the local crash repair shops and ask if they might be able to adapt their machine to your problem. Potentially this method would not harm your beautiful powder coat.



It is possible to run extension cords from the electrodes to do the job you desire.

Ah, thanx to Action Man Melb. Possibly maybe.... I keep that in mind.
@Mezo: I think these foamthingies have to withstand a high temperatur while the powder gets fluid. They must be special.

Ah , I had to relocate the brackets for the ignitioncoil too. It would have been in the way while putting on the 34L tank.

It was very difficult to find the location for the brackets/ mountingpoints for the tank. There is just one fixed point:
The tank must not touch the CDI. The CDI is not screwed in the frame as is on the Teneres.
It is attached via a rubberstrap just behind the steeringstem.
It took sooooooo long to find the right place for the tank.... and then to make the accordinaring metalpieces.

Yes! I have somthing strange going on in my head, I think. I´m crazy about "big tanks"!
I let them parading in the shed... and I speak to them: "Sie strafen, sie strafen, sie strafen.... liberty stonk! Free spraken stonk! Einer klerten mit de üten zek" (I hope you know "The Great Diktator" ?)

Every tank I own was really cheap. They were dented , rusty, welded and every time they came up I thougt:" This is the better tank" I just purchased a very good (like new) Acerbis 20 Liter tank. They are very rare. So I just had to...

Now I have to stop buying tanks because I don´t know where to put them...

@ Geoff: Well, you are able to whrite "scheiße" so your german isn´t that bad. (important word!)

My Lovebus needs new brakes. So there is no time for the TT in the moment.
But there are some projects on the bike I finished some months ago allready.
I wanted a cushdrive backwheel on the bike.
There is a guy in switzerland (google Paul Noy Verlag) who did this many years ago because he went on long jouneys to Afrika.
On his very interesting homepage he discribes the way to go:
I got myself a Tenere 34L backwheel and let someone produce these spacers and did all the changes like Paul Noy says.
... and found out that the wheel didn´t fit into the TT swingarm!?
measured everything out again and again. It did not fit! (foul language!)
OK! I make it fit. There where 6 mm to many. The main problem was the äääh strut (?) which helds the wheel while you are braking. OK, foto please:


How do you call this brakingholdingagainstthingy?
Anyway, I let it machined down 4 mm. Allways afraid that the brake will be weakend to much. There has no hole shown up,
The missing 2 mm I grinded down from the opposite part on the swingarm.
Now the wheel fits in (very tight fit)
The sprocketcarrier had to be altered like this:


The new sprocketcarrierbearing will be a sealed one.There isn´t enough place in the TT swingarm so the original Teneresealingseat (argl) has to be cut away.

Sorry for the new post but I was afraid that the timelimit will kick me out of the session. Is there a timelimit Mezo?

The studs for the sprocket have to be wind out and replaced by Helicoils (M10 X 20 mm).



Due to the lack of space I take bolts which are ... o dear... well they vanishes a bit in the material of the sprocket.

Do you call it "sink" ?
I took 10.9 bolts and gave them a bit of loctite as they are highly under stress. I think.
Paul Noy did the thinking. I´m just the monkey. Thanks Paul. (I don´t know him at all)
Everything looks good, the chain will run in a straight line. I can´t wait for the first rollout.
