Yeah will do. I’ll double check everything electric as I’ve not done so in a while, and look at my fuel bowl height too.
Why hot oil? Does it find problems in the windings or something?

Re: Regulators
Yeah the windings fail as the temperature of the oil rises, so i normally i ask if it runs OK from cold & after five mins the problems start, if the answer is yes it normally points to the stator, you see the windings may be in spec sitting there with a cold engine but out of spec when its hot.donnybach wrote: Fri Aug 20, 2021 8:42 amWhy hot oil? Re: Regulators
So I rebuilt the starter anyway in case. Apart from dirt it was all fine. The battery holds charge. (Although I’ve ordered a tester). Still cranks slow and won’t catch. Voltage drops to 10.5 while cranking, then goes back up to 12.8v straight after. Motobatt mbtx12u. 200 CCA.
This is when cold. Still kicks.

Re: Regulators
Bang on there mezo. Readings were ok before for the stator, but I’ve now used my proper megger and while the resistances are ok, they earth/ground out to the casing so new genny needed.
Next question.
Has anyone used the electrex G45 on a 1VJ? The adverts state it’s for a later XT, but Wemoto reckons it’s fine for the elec start bikes. Old one is 5 wire, 115mm o/d, 54mm I/d, 3 screws securing to casing.
Tried ordering one. Wemoto and electrex on eBay Everyone’s home watching TV eating chocolate though instead of manning the shops.

Re: Regulators
Gotta say, I’m f***ing flying at the mo.
After some good advice ( cheers mezo), even though it’s the most expensive part and most work to swap,in the system, and we tend to hide from the truth, I finally fitted the new stator this afternoon. It’s a completely different bike. Starts on the button. No “stutter” or dip in revs when throttle is blipped quickly. Charging at over 14v. I’ll put the details of the item separate so it can be found easier ( or you guys can move it please). I’ve been blaming the carb for ages for poor low speed running. Knob. Can’t wait to finish tidying the cabling tomorrow. Give her a wash. Get out there.
Confident I can now take her anywhere again.

Re: Regulators
Stator details.
Electrex in the UK. They sell through their own site and eBay. Wemoto also stock their stuff.
It cost £90 plus £10p&p.
It’s the electrex G45, with 3 white cables for the genny, and red and brown for the source coil.
It’s 115mm o/d. 54mm I/d. 3 mounting holes. Comes with new plugs and connectors, which need attaching.
This is for the 1vj, and probably most electric boot models with the same 600 engine.
I’m adding the detail as not all of it is listed when searching, even with their own site.
Electrex basically do all OE stuff for our bikes.
