Hi

I've got a 1vk here in The Philippines. Sub 200 serial number.

Was this bike restricted in power for the Swiss Market and if so how would I de-restrict it?

Regards,

Yes. Mainly jet sizes. They had 130s instead of 140/145/150 that the other uk/ European ones had. Middle settings would be 46 pilot, 145 main, 125 secondary carb. Needles clipped in middle ring. It might have a restriction in the inlet boots but I doubt it. Airbox may be restricted, so just open it up at the back.

Thank you.

Do the bikes use Mikunis and do you know if the jets are available anywhere?

Hi there,
as far as I know no power restriction but a leaner carb setting and higher gearing (for less noise, targeting the noise measurement setup of that time).
There is a spare parts list which has the parts labelled 1VK in it.

So there is a different needle set in the primary carb, and the return spring for the membrane in the secondary carb has a VK number as well (so may open later). Carbs are Teikei brand.

Air filter intake is from under the seat like in 3AJ model, muffler has a different end pipe.

Rear sprocket is 39 instead of standard 40

Both fenders have extensions (are longer)

Seat has no helmet lock

Side stand switch

I will PN you the list for reference.

If you have a dealer, or supply chain, the jets and most other (not all) carb parts are available genuine. Check on fowlers parts for part numbers and sizes, or download the parts list ( and print it off on someone else’s printer😁). Some part numbers have changed but using the old one at the dealer will bring up the new one on their computer. You can sometimes get carb kits for drilling jets out and needle changes etc, but I’d go for the genuine option first. The parts list has the Swiss option separate so you can compare differences.
Good looking bike.

I have this file but couldn’t upload it. So with jibbers permission, this is a link to a download on another site. It’s not theirs either, it’s been around for years on the net. If you search it, their should be several places to download it from.

Excellent.
Thank you.
I'll have a look.
Are 3TB carbs the same as 1vj?

Looks a different part number but same basic carb. A few differences in choke, and probably jet size. It would fit and work.

Thank you. I understand the 1vk Swiss bikes run lean to meet emission regs. I don't want a lean running bike in The Philippines' heat.

Some spares have surfaced 69 miles away, including 3tb carbs, hence the question.

What was your airbox like, did previous owner block off the forward intakes that took hot air in from above engine? Did you check if jets previously changed? Does it have a helmet lock, mine has locking seat and I'm guessing that the locking side doubles as a helmet lock.
