Thats more effort into getting a good finish than most would put into a Tank

I'm getting good at this painting and screwing things up malarky....................painted the swing-arm black.................meant to paint it the other colour! (Not telling what colour it will be yet).
Must have been having a senior moment. Never mind, it's no biggie really as I am going to be using a black undercoat before the topcoat goes on so I can just flash it over.
Or I might just leave it now
With a bit of luck I should have some more pics to upload sometime tomorrow.

Presently got a load of small pieces all hanging up and in black primer, drying nicely.
Ordered the new seat cover, front and rear footpeg rubbers, footpegs arrived today, the fronts are correct, the rears are nowhere near the right ones so they'll be going back.
I don't think there is much on this coming week so hopefully I should see some good progress on this rebuild.

Looking good for 26 year old materials

Put a couple of things back in place, not bolted up yet, just there to have a look see and get them out of harms way. The cloth is there not to hide anything but to act as a protector if the top yoke decides to spin all the way round and hit the bracket underneath. Tried some of that chrome spray on something a couple of hours ago, i'll keep you all in suspenders before I reveal that.

Spent yesterday and this morning de-spokeing the wheels, jeez what a job. Had to heat every nipple. Broke a few spokes in the process, but necessary as the nipples were frozen solid. Hubs and bearings all stripped out, chucked them in the shotblaster, all nice and clean, washed off, now hanging in their first coat of high build primer; along with the fork legs. Managed to strip the rims of all that black paint that was brush painted on as well. They are just hanging up for now, I'll do those later. Using a different colour primer for those.................
Nice and warm(ish) outside so a good day for painting.
Popped round to see the neighbour who does all the decals, made sure he still had all the measurements of the new ones I need.

Stands a chance you may get to see the finished colour today on some of the parts. Just given them a light rub over and a final coat of primer.



Rear rim before and after stripping, can't understand why people hand paint rims, it's never a good job. At least I have been able to inspect them for any cracks now, which can be an un-noticed problem on these bikes.

Here you go then
Estoril Blue as found on the Land Rover SVR. Took this while the paint was still wet. You get a darker blue by using a black primer, but still get the lustre.

All the blue bits you see hanging up in the above photo are now laquered and dry, top and bottom yokes are in as are the forks, but I shall have to flash over the top yoke again, I missed a bit. Both rims are currently in primer ready for flatting down and top coating tomorrow.
Been such a nice sunny day over here that I actually put the rims outside while they were in primer to dry off, and guess what?
No bugs in the paint!
Stripped the swing arm again, wasn't happy with the way it came out, but now it's looking very nice, just come in from giving it a final coat of laquer. Need to pop over to Central Wheel Components for some new spokes tomorrow after I've top coated the rims. Ordered some carbon effect self adhesive sheet which will be used as a tank protector and side knee protection plus a piece just under the ignition barrel where your keys always flap around and scratch stuff.
Progress is indeed going well at the moment
