I'm running two of these and find them great, easy to deal with and the one fitted to the XT600 was a plug and play, the other is fitted to my TRX850 just need to be synchronised with the TPS.

I've gotten 2 of these cdi's http://hpi.be/item.php?item=CD4605 (the one from Belgium) and a Zeeltronics , they both worked the same , just go with which ever is cheapest . I can get a HPI from ebay through their US distributor for less than buying direct , possible to do the same over there. I won't recommend going the programmable route on these bikes. There isn't anything to gain in this non performance setup , even my heavy modded bike doesn't benefit on the 2 curves I have for it . Unless a person can get them to hold together at 9k rpms .

Well the old sage advice of you get what you pay for is true. The Zeeltronic unit is microprocessor controlled so the advance curve is calculated and will never change unless you program it. The older type CDI's used analog components to determine the advance curve. These can and do change with age. I personally feel the Zeeltronic unit will be a better performer in the long run. I still contend I CAN feel a difference in power between the Hyperpak and the zeeltronic units, same bike only minutes apart Zeeltronic feels stronger. Yes it is a seat of the pants feel but I did feel it and others have too. This is an old argument so I won't keep going on about it. Take your pics of the units out there and see for yourself.

JJ where is the promised dyno comparisons you spoke of?????

You willing to cough up half of the $100(per bike tested) it'll cost me at the only place within 200miles of me ? I'll put up half , they bought a nice new dyno after they crashed the old one last summer so now they have to pay for it. Beyond that I could care less , I know what I felt (or didn't) on 4 separate bikes. Buy the most expensive if it makes a person feel warm and fuzzy.

I have that Zeeltronics programmable , with the 2 curves and a switch hooked up . One curve is as low(starting at 9-8º(IIRC) as it'll accept and ramps up as fast as it goes to the max spread 34º(again IIRC), the second curve is later 14º and ramps up slow to more ending advance at a higher rpm . Switching between the 2 I have no idea which is which and no difference felt , so that says once everything is working (good spark, good signals, ect..) no more to gain in this motor, so the programmable option is a waste of $ , same goes for any other brand that has the programmable option.

NO, I was not the one bragging about showing there is no difference. You said dyno, not me. If you are not willing to back up what you said you'd do, then drop the whole thing. Now it is just your word against me. You made up your mind before even trying them. I spoke of actual use. I will respond no more to you.

hi to all friends , does anybody know if the 2kf xt600 and the 3aj tenere 600 have the same cdi ?the 2kf is a kick starter only as you know and the 3aj not .thanks for your help .i know my english are dramatic bad.

Yes it is the same. The CDI is compatible, the later TCI came in with the 1990 model XT600E

I built one from his early circuit(no advance). Kept it as an emergency unit to get me home if main unit failed.

You can interchange the Tenere 1VJ and 3AJ boxes with a minor plug change, one of the plugs is different (spade versus round) as far as I recall. I went down that road.
