When first introduced into the market the XT 500 was a sales success, the bike was a reliable 4 stroke trail bike inspired on the BSA Victor. It had many upgrades along the production run. The exhaust was relocated as it run very low hitting rocks and debris very easy. They changed also from 6v to 12v on the last models. We can say that this bike is the milestone among enduro trail bikes! here is where it all began.
The engine had 2 valves, upper camshaft a very simple design.
