Tach Drive oil seal replacement

Post by CHARGER »

Hi All,

Wondering what i'm missing with the Tach Drive assembly.

I am wanting to replace oil seal #25 shown in the diagram.

I have removed the worm gear/shaft that engages with the output shaft to the tach cable however this tach cable output shaft will not pull out along with the seal #25 on top of it. I see no retaining clip etc and assume it should just pull straight out, I've tried with needle nose vice grips to pull it out but it doesn't budge

No, it's removed, strange. Looks like I got away with just replacing the orings and i think it's sealing, see how it goes on a ride. Would have liked to have replaced that seal tho.

I looked at doing this today for you but when I examined the drive i thought the seal was too good and felt even though if it leaked it would lubricate the drive and agree you have the O rings as back up. So if it aint broke dont fix it comes to mind :-). Good luck.
