I have a 1990 xt 600 and I noticed that the rear brake pedal when I apply is very low to stop. I installed new pads and still feels very low. I did check the height of the pedal and all within spec of the manual. Is this just the nature of the beast? thanks for your help

Hi,
you can adjust the pedal height and play accordingly (I assume its a hydraulic rear disc brake?).
There should be adjustment possible on the actuator rod from Pedal to the brake cylinder. Just make sure there is some play left to bleed the pressure after braking.

An old rubber/textile brake line may as well delay pressure build-up, so worth upgrading to a modern steel braided one with no elasticity to it, especially if you still run the original brake line.

Thanks for the help, Yes it’s hydraulic. Also the manual says that is for pedal height adjustment I thought and the pedal is good. Now does this adjustment adjusts without doing the pedal height? Thanks again
