Can anyone help me to identify my model

I need to know what model I have E/Z not familiar with models yet just acquired the bike All i know it has 3AJ000 on the barrel XT600 tenere from 1990

I think we'll need a little more information to help you out.
You can fit that barrel to lots of different 600cc XTs
Do you have a photo of the actual bike?

Difference between earlier (1988) and later (1989-90) 3AJ being in primary gear ratio an oil line setup ... there was a VERY late 3AJ model built for South America with brake drum in the rear as well.

The engine in your picture has an external oil line from oil filter to gearbox which makes it a late 3AJ engine 1989 or 1990 I guess.

Type plate is riveted to the steering head, should have the relevant info as well.
