Metal pieces in oil and oil filter non magnetic

2009 xt 660ztenere. 54000 km.changed the oil and filter and found lots of metal pieces in the oil collection pan plus a few pieces in the oil filter when I took it apart.only have he bike 6 months and have not used it very often,about 500 films since I have it .the pieces are non magnetic.the bike still ha full power,starts first tip, no excess mike from exhaust.any ideas on where the problem i

Have moved both you threads to a more appropriate section.
Has the motor been apart before?
Check the engine number against the range in the sticky thread above, 09's had a few issues.

I'm new to this forum not sure how to use it or where to ask questions. Need to know if I get on with riding the bike and see what happens or remove the engine and recondition it or go for pre owned engine

Go back to the first page of this sub forum (xt660z/x/r) there is a sticky thread ,09 gearbox issues, there is also a link to a mirrored version of the old xt660.com site, lots of useful info. Assuming you have alluminium debris floating around it's either piston, cases,clutch,head or any other alluminium component, assuming its alluminium debris.

Thanks for that.im going to change the oil and filter on Saturday. The metal I found last time can't be picked up by magnet.ill wait and see how much metal is there after this oil change .

A helicoil was used on the engine oil sump drain and the metal pieces came from drilling for it .I changed the oil nd filter twice and all looks good now. I'm looking for advice on exhausts.it has a pair of scorpion exhausts, are too loud and backfire as well.will a original pipe be better?

Factory cans rarely are any good. Heavy and rusty. Max power do “design your own “ so you can do single sided, race or road, same with quill, and arrow are always good for Yamaha tens of all types. Nice sound but not too loud. Get one with a removable baffle so you can do it to suit your mood/ type of ride/time of night?

I would think cam chain guides if its brownish/black non metallic particles. Or leftover sealant, there is some stuff which hardens. If the engine was rebuilt there will always be some excess sealant inside the engine (engine halves and cylinder head cover).
