Zeeltronic ignition no spark

Hello everyone

I'm trying to fit a Zeeltronic igniton unit to my '88 3DS, i have connected everything according to the provided wiring diagram, shorted both the side stand and clutch switch in case it matters but still nothing. The old ignition unit sparks fine. Has anyone fitted one of these? Any ideas?

We have fitted some to the 1VJ models, which works flawlessly but with some adaptions, as we have no electric start on them.

The Zeeltronic CDI does not have any security features (connectors) for sidestand, clutch switch, starter relais etc you may have got the cut-off wrong.
If the black-white wire connects to ground, this will kill the spark.

The kill switch on the 1VJ and 3AJ model works the other way round, while the ignition switch works like on the old XT600 models (since XT550 or even XT500, actually). 3DS should have the same electrics as 3AJ, just different in carburation for Switzerland
The original CDI handles the security, so depending on the signals it gehts from various switches, it will actuate a relais for allowing the electric start to turn or the spark to happen.



If you use the provided wiring diagram, what did you do with the leftover connections from the old CDI?



The blue one should handle the electric start, you should have got that right as the engine turns on pushing the START button.
The blue/yellow one should handle the spark, and works differently on the original CDI.

This is how we run our starter-less 1VJ with original CDI:



Did you wire your kill switch to the Zeeltronic lack-white wire?
Then connecting it to Earth will kill the spark on the Zeeltronic (position RUN)

Everything was connected according to the provided diagram.I'm attaching the wiring diagram for the 3AJ.
The black white wire on the Zeeltronic is connected to the same wire on the wiring harness. I understand the kill switch wire is the blue white wire according to the diagram so no connection for it on the Zeeltronic, i tried running both blue-white and blue-yellow wires to ground at the same time but nothing still. The leftover connections,i left them as they are,not connected to anything.

Ok problem solved, you connect everything according to the provided diagram and you run a wire from the blue yellow wire on the 3pin terminal to ground. Everything else stays disconnected. Thank you Andy!
