brake rod original finish

Post by cadno »

Hi, just finished my 34L and have a couple of things I need to improve.
Anybody know what the original finish would have been on the rear brake rod?
Zinc passivate?

You will struggle to match the yamaha original...I had mine powder coated in Satin Black which was the closest I could get to the yamaha chassis black. Toned in well with the engine. I think the zinc looks good - really depends on how much of a purist you are!

I think he's on about the rod which runs from the pedal to the drum cam/lever not the foot brake lever, in which case I think it is just zinc.

Sorry if I didn't make it clear, Jibber was right in that I wanted the cable/rod from brake pedal to actuator. Yamaha used to like that green passivate around this time, but I thought a zinc colour would look more correct

I daresay that all the brand new cheaper bikes like kids bikes all have the same finish still.
Its definitly not a bright zinc finish, like that brake lever pictured. Go and look at a Bolt shop at all the different finishes and figure out what it would be.
