Re: Customized 36A
Thanks guys.
Been doing a little bit more these past weeks.
Frame for build #1 is welded and ready for powdercoating/sandblasting. I managed to get the parts that was broken
or missing replaced.

My tires got back rubbered for the #2 mockup.

This is it. All previous measurements points to this setup. The height differs though.
My forks is shortened and is almost 50 mm shorter then the TTs original forks.
Everything else will then be at a lower point as well. I have nothing against that.

Next up, weld brackets for the linkage and suspension.

Re: Customized 36A
Not very much to report about at the moment but I was going through some parts this
weekend and I have to mention I will reuse my belowed home made footpegs.
What a journey they have been on. Made them to fit my former XTZ750.
When the 750 was sold I kept them and fitted them to the new XT1200Z without modification.
The right side took a hit at a tunnel wall in Italy or was it Austria but it only got some scratches.
When that bike was sold I mounted them on the XT660Z, still without modification. When the 660 was sold,
I kept them for further use. Now they will hopefully end on the TT600ZE build (number #2 build).
I like that name, TT600ZE. A tenerized TT.
Here is some old pics. Not the very best finish but they are proven to hold rough treatment.

Re: Customized 36A
#2 is now practically a rolling chassi. Welding not ready but it is tacked up.
The lowest bracket should also get some more reinforcement later.

I have a lot of space where the airbox rubber should pass the frame.
I haven´t thought so much about it but maybe it is optional to go
for another carb solution, dump the airbox totaly?
Or at least go for TT carbs if they are better then E-model carbs?
What would you have done? more space below without airbox isn´t wrong
but I´m more worried not holding the petrol usage down.

First to try out is the XT600E airbox and rubber. It is a little bit short of
space but with some force on the rubber I think it will be done.
Do you know if there is thicker rubber for the rubber attaching to the cylinder that move the carbs further out?

Re: Customized 36A
If you have extra room for the carbs I wouldn't even consider the stock carbs . I can get you a set of Raptor 660 mikuni's that are much more tunable .

Don´t know any about them carbs. Please tell me. Isn´t they 2 into 1 setup. Need airbox?xtrider wrote:If you have extra room for the carbs I wouldn't even consider the stock carbs . I can get you a set of Raptor 660 mikuni's that are much more tunable .

If you look at my Pictures, will they fit? I have the space where the airbox rubber goes.
Thanks.

They are mikuni BST 33mm flatslide carbs, as used on the BMW F650 rangeYami wrote:Don´t know any about them carbs. Please tell me. Isn´t they 2 into 1 setup. Re: Customized 36A
What XTZRick said they are BST33's . They come as a set together since the Raptor had dual carbs also . Yamaha continued that tradition up until '06 . You'll need roughly 19mm extra room for them over the stock setup. The carbs themselves are only about 12-14mm longer at the bore but the vacuum slide parts sticks up and back farther which hits on the normal XT frame just barely. They won't be a huge performance gain compared to a pair of CR's or FCR carbs but will be better all around compared to oem.
I can take a picture or 2 of mine with some dimensions for you to compare.

Re: Customized 36A
French, hmm, Google Translate doesn´t make it much more understandable.
But I take it they need airbox to. Rubber might be a problem then.
Can´t see any choke mechanism either. The 2 openings on each top, is that for breathers?
Otherwise they doesn´t seem to be any bigger, just a more compact build.
Any experience of petrol usage with em?
