pics of rear shock linkage mount for XT660?

Hi guys, would anyone have their bike in a state that'd make it easy to take some pics of the frame mounting that anchors the front of the linkage for the rear shock?

I got a clean steel swing arm & linkage off an XT660X to convert the rear of my 1VJ to a disk brake rear, but while I wondered what the 3rd bolt hole on the linkage was for, it didn't click until I was looking at some XT660 pics that I'd need to fab up and weld a mount to the lower frame, to anchor the front of the linkage.

Sooo, if anyone could provide or point me to some pics that clearly show the mount, and the proper location on the frame, it'd be really appreciated. (measurements of the mount would be even better)

(For that matter, given that I may well need to fab and add the upper shock mount plate as well, if some wonderful person could do pics or pointers to close images and dimensions for that, too, it'd be greatly appreciated.

If you fit brackets to the same dimentions as the 660x you'll need to fit a shock to match & loose wheel travel, the 660 only has 200mm.

Wouldn't a swing arm from something like a 3AJ be a better option?

Hi Rick,

This is part of an exercise to reduce travel and lower the bike, I've got ducks' disease a bit, my Pegaso (about the same as the 660) is right on my limits for gettin' my feet down. I don't do that much off road nowadays, so I'm moving the bike to more of an all roads machine. (another possible benefit is that I have the Grizzly 2 in to 1 manifold and want to ditch the std carbs, changing to an XT660 upper mount looks like it'd give me the room to put a decent FCR or Mikuni carb in there with a filter behind it)

Oh, and thanks to my idiot sister I've just spent over $700 getting 2 of nearly every part of the XT660 rear end (got the bits off egay in the UK and got them sent to her to post on to me, when we got a quote of about 124 pounds to post to OZ I told her not to do anything, I'd write off what I'd spent on the parts and get them from somewhere else, but after I'd bought the whole lot from Italy and it was on its way, she called me to say that they'd posted my parcel and it cost me a bit over 50 pounds, what part of "don't send them" was hard to understand?) So as well as seeing some advantages to the XT660 setup, I don't want to write off what I've just spent on the bits (nor am I really in a position to do so), hence my attempts to work out how to proceed down this path.

A Mikuni CV carb off a KLR650 or ,um,I don't know if I should say this, errr, ....................... a Harley Sportster, should be a good single carb setup.

Yep, I've gotta admit that the HSR-42, like I have on my XV1000 on a single carb manifold, is the one that I want to use on the XT ;^)

In all seriousness, these Mikunis and the equivalent Khien (sp?) FCRs are about the latest carb technology and give better power and economy than any of the old tech that came with the bikes.
